In service, this loaded lip seal uses a flexible sealing lip energized by system pressure to hold a tight seal on a moving rod or piston. The material holds up against impact and shock loading, abrasion and wear, and petroleum oils. Polyurethane (AU/EU) is specified for very high tensile strength and load capacity, outstanding extrusion resistance at elevated pressure.
