The H70MD402 is an AS568-402 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A O-Ring measuring an inside diameter of 1.6 in (40.64 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.15 in (54.61 mm). This o-ring remains the most cost-effective sealing element available for pressurized assemblies.

The compound resists water, propane and butane, and hydraulic fluids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer, strong abrasion and tear resistance. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 250°F (121.1°C). Exposure to polar solvents or strong acids will shorten service life.

The compound is metal detectable for HACCP and foreign-body control programs. Common environments for this compound include construction equipment, automotive, and fluid power.
