This o-ring is supplied in AS568-431 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A with an inside diameter of 5.225 in (132.72 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.775 in (146.69 mm), catalogued under part number H70MD431. It provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

The compound resists greases and lubricants, many alcohols, and petroleum-based oils. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) is widely chosen for strong abrasion and tear resistance, low compression set under sustained load. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Applications involving ketones or automotive brake fluid call for a different compound.
