The o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

Expect good resistance to aggressive chemicals, many acids, and chlorinated solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is known for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, outstanding high-temperature capability. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Verify compatibility before use with ketones and esters or hot water and steam.
