Viton® (FKM) is specified for very low compression set at elevated temperature, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. The material holds up against chlorinated solvents, aggressive chemicals, and aromatic hydrocarbons. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where hot water and steam or amines are present.

The compound meets FDA requirements for food contact, carries NSF listing, and is metal detectable for HACCP and foreign-body control programs. Common environments for this compound include oil and gas, chemical processing, and semiconductor equipment.
