The o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

The material holds up against engine and transmission fluids, aromatic hydrocarbons, and many acids. Viton® (FKM) is specified for the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments.
