APG stocks the S70MD037, an AS568-037 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 2.489 in (63.22 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.629 in (66.78 mm). An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

Silicone is specified here for excellent electrical insulating properties, physiological inertness and low toxicity. The material holds up against ozone and UV exposure, dry heat, and extreme heat and cold. The material carries a published service range of -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). Applications involving steam above its rated range or hydrocarbon fuels and oils call for a different compound.

This o-ring is metal detectable for HACCP and foreign-body control programs. Typical settings include food and beverage processing, ovens and heated equipment, and sanitary process lines.
