The S70MD048 is an AS568-048 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 4.739 in (120.37 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.879 in (123.93 mm). This o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

The compound resists weathering, dry heat, and extreme heat and cold. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Silicone delivers physiological inertness and low toxicity, excellent electrical insulating properties. The material carries a published service range of -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). Applications involving concentrated acids or hydrocarbon fuels and oils call for a different compound.
