The compound resists extreme heat and cold, ozone and UV exposure, and many oxidizing chemicals. Silicone delivers an exceptionally wide service temperature range and flexibility that holds at very low temperatures. Rated temperature range runs from -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C) in continuous service. Applications involving steam above its rated range or hydrocarbon fuels and oils call for a different compound.
