S70MD158 is an AS568-158 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 4.737 in (120.32 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.943 in (125.55 mm). In service, this o-ring creates a positive seal at flange, piston and rod interfaces without added hardware.

The compound resists extreme heat and cold, ozone and UV exposure, and many oxidizing chemicals. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Silicone delivers flexibility that holds at very low temperatures and very good compression set resistance across its range. Published continuous service range is -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). It should not be specified for service in concentrated acids or hydrocarbon fuels and oils.

The compound is metal detectable for HACCP and foreign-body control programs. Typical settings include medical devices, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and sanitary process lines.
