Part number S70MD166 is an AS568-166 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 6.737 in (171.12 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.943 in (176.35 mm). An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

As a material, Silicone offers very good compression set resistance across its range and flexibility that holds at very low temperatures. It resists extreme heat and cold, weathering, and dry heat. The material carries a published service range of -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). Exposure to concentrated acids or hydrocarbon fuels and oils will shorten service life.
