APG stocks the S70MD168, an AS568-168 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 7.237 in (183.82 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 7.443 in (189.05 mm). An o-ring remains the most cost-effective sealing element available for pressurized assemblies.

The material holds up against ozone and UV exposure, weathering, and dry heat. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Silicone is valued for physiological inertness and low toxicity, excellent electrical insulating properties. The material carries a published service range of -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). Applications involving abrasive dynamic service or steam above its rated range call for a different compound.

The compound is metal detectable for HACCP and foreign-body control programs. Common environments for this compound include electronics and electrical enclosures, food and beverage processing, and sanitary process lines.
