Part number S70MD173 is an AS568-173 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 8.487 in (215.57 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 8.693 in (220.8 mm). An o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

As a material, Silicone offers excellent electrical insulating properties and very good compression set resistance across its range. The material holds up against extreme heat and cold, weathering, and ozone and UV exposure. Published continuous service range is -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). It is not the right choice where steam above its rated range or abrasive dynamic service are present.
