S70MD178 is an AS568-178 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 9.737 in (247.32 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.943 in (252.55 mm). In service, this o-ring delivers dependable bidirectional sealing in a compact groove envelope.

As a material, Silicone is widely chosen for very good compression set resistance across its range, physiological inertness and low toxicity. Expect good resistance to many oxidizing chemicals, dry heat, and ozone and UV exposure. Continuous operating temperature is published at -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). Applications involving abrasive dynamic service or steam above its rated range call for a different compound.
