Silicone is known for very good compression set resistance across its range and excellent electrical insulating properties. The material holds up against ozone and UV exposure, dry heat, and many oxidizing chemicals. The material carries a published service range of -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). Exposure to concentrated acids or steam above its rated range will shorten service life.
