S70MD371 is an AS568-371 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 8.475 in (215.27 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 8.895 in (225.93 mm). In service, this o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

Silicone is specified here for very good compression set resistance across its range and excellent electrical insulating properties. Expect good resistance to dry heat, weathering, and many oxidizing chemicals. Rated temperature range runs from -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where concentrated acids or abrasive dynamic service are present.

The compound is metal detectable for HACCP and foreign-body control programs. Common environments for this compound include medical devices, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and sanitary process lines.
