Part number S70MD420 is an AS568-420 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 3.85 in (97.79 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.4 in (111.76 mm). An o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.
Silicone is specified for very good compression set resistance across its range and flexibility that holds at very low temperatures. The compound resists many oxidizing chemicals, ozone and UV exposure, and dry heat. Rated temperature range runs from -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C) in continuous service. Applications involving concentrated acids or steam above its rated range call for a different compound.
The compound is metal detectable for HACCP and foreign-body control programs. Common environments for this compound include electronics and electrical enclosures, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and ovens and heated equipment.
Stocked as S70MD420 and sold individually. Application requirements vary, so validate compatibility with your process conditions prior to installation. If you need a size, durometer or compound that is not listed, APG can cross-reference from a print, a sample or a competitor part number.
