Ordered as E2.7X8.9, this is a black EPDM (EPR) 70 Shore A O-Ring with an inside diameter of 8.9 mm (0.35 in), a cross section of 2.7 mm (0.106 in), and an outside diameter of 14.3 mm (0.56 in). The o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

As a material, EPDM (EPR) is known for very good flexibility at low temperature and good electrical insulating characteristics. It resists water and steam, brake fluid, and dilute acids and alkalis. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 300°F (148.9°C). Applications involving mineral oil-based lubricants or aromatic hydrocarbons call for a different compound.
