This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-028 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D measuring an inside diameter of 1.364 in (34.65 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.504 in (38.2 mm), catalogued under part number TST028SO. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for very wide continuous service temperature range and excellent dielectric properties. The compound resists nearly all industrial chemicals, oxidizing media, and steam. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Exposure to service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature will shorten service life.
