H70MD417 is an AS568-417 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 3.475 in (88.27 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.025 in (102.24 mm). In service, this o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

The material holds up against water, propane and butane, and hydraulic fluids. Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer and low compression set under sustained load. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C).

The compound is metal detectable for HACCP and foreign-body control programs. Typical settings include fluid power, general industrial maintenance, and automotive.
