H1.78X12.42 is a black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 12.42 mm (0.489 in), a cross section of 1.78 mm (0.07 in), and an outside diameter of 15.98 mm (0.63 in). In service, this o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is specified for an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs, strong abrasion and tear resistance. Expect good resistance to propane and butane, greases and lubricants, and many alcohols. Published continuous service range is -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It should not be specified for service in ozone and direct sunlight or polar solvents.
