The o-ring remains the most cost-effective sealing element available for pressurized assemblies.

It resists greases and lubricants, propane and butane, and water. Buna-N (Nitrile) is specified for strong abrasion and tear resistance, an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. The material carries a published service range of -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It should not be specified for service in polar solvents or ketones.
