An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

The compound resists greases and lubricants, hydraulic fluids, and water. Buna-N (Nitrile) is specified for strong abrasion and tear resistance, reliable performance in both static and dynamic service. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Exposure to ozone and direct sunlight or ketones will shorten service life.
