This o-ring is supplied in AS568-170 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 7.737 in (196.52 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 7.943 in (201.75 mm), catalogued under part number TFE170. It seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

The compound resists strong acids and bases, nearly all industrial chemicals, and steam. PTFE (Teflon) offers excellent dielectric properties and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals.
