TFE178 is an AS568-178 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D O-Ring with an inside diameter of 9.737 in (247.32 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.943 in (252.55 mm). In service, this o-ring creates a positive seal at flange, piston and rod interfaces without added hardware.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and near-universal chemical inertness. This material stands up to steam, strong acids and bases, and oxidizing media. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. Exposure to molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature will shorten service life.

It sees regular use in pharmaceutical and biotech, food and beverage, and chemical processing.
