This o-ring is supplied in AS568-283 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 16.955 in (430.66 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 17.233 in (437.72 mm), catalogued under part number TFE283. It creates a positive seal at flange, piston and rod interfaces without added hardware.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and excellent dielectric properties. The compound resists oxidizing media, steam, and strong acids and bases. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals will shorten service life.
