This o-ring is supplied in AS568-157 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 4.487 in (113.97 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.693 in (119.2 mm), catalogued under part number TFE157. It provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and very wide continuous service temperature range. It resists steam, solvents, and nearly all industrial chemicals. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals will shorten service life.
