The TFE220 is an AS568-220 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D O-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 1.359 in (34.52 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.637 in (41.58 mm). This o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

This material stands up to strong acids and bases, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) delivers non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery call for a different compound.
