APG stocks the TFE221, an AS568-221 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D O-Ring measuring an inside diameter of 1.421 in (36.09 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.699 in (43.15 mm). An o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for very wide continuous service temperature range and excellent dielectric properties. This material stands up to strong acids and bases, steam, and solvents. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals are present.

Common environments for this compound include aggressive-media pipelines, semiconductor fabrication, and laboratory equipment.
