The TFE233 is an AS568-233 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D O-Ring with an inside diameter of 2.859 in (72.62 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.137 in (79.68 mm). This o-ring remains the most cost-effective sealing element available for pressurized assemblies.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for excellent dielectric properties and near-universal chemical inertness. The compound resists steam, nearly all industrial chemicals, and strong acids and bases. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. Exposure to service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature will shorten service life.

It sees regular use in semiconductor fabrication, aggressive-media pipelines, and laboratory equipment.
