This o-ring is supplied in AS568-243 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 4.109 in (104.37 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.387 in (111.43 mm), catalogued under part number TFE243. It seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

It resists solvents, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) is known for a very wide continuous service temperature range and near-universal chemical inertness. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature.
