Part number TFE254 is an AS568-254 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D O-Ring measuring an inside diameter of 5.484 in (139.29 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.762 in (146.35 mm). An o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

The material holds up against oxidizing media, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) is specified for near-universal chemical inertness and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature.
