An o-ring remains the most cost-effective sealing element available for pressurized assemblies.

This material stands up to steam, nearly all industrial chemicals, and strong acids and bases. PTFE (Teflon) offers a very wide continuous service temperature range and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Verify compatibility before use with molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery.
