This o-ring is supplied in AS568-379 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D measuring an inside diameter of 10.975 in (278.77 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 11.395 in (289.43 mm), catalogued under part number TFE379. It compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

It resists nearly all industrial chemicals, solvents, and strong acids and bases. PTFE (Teflon) is valued for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery.
