568-388 PTFE ORINGS FDA

This o-ring is supplied in AS568-388 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 18.953 in (481.41 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 19.373 in (492.07 mm), catalogued under part number TFE388. It seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) offers near-universal chemical inertness and a very wide continuous service temperature range. It resists steam, solvents, and oxidizing media. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. Exposure to service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals will shorten service life.

It sees regular use in semiconductor fabrication, aggressive-media pipelines, and food and beverage.
