The TFE431 is an AS568-431 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D O-Ring measuring an inside diameter of 5.225 in (132.72 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.775 in (146.69 mm). This o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

The compound resists steam, strong acids and bases, and oxidizing media. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is valued for a very wide continuous service temperature range and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery are present.
