568-451 PTFE ORINGS FDA

This o-ring is supplied in AS568-451 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 10.975 in (278.77 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 11.525 in (292.74 mm), catalogued under part number TFE451. It remains the most cost-effective sealing element available for pressurized assemblies.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is valued for near-universal chemical inertness and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The compound resists nearly all industrial chemicals, steam, and oxidizing media. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery.

Typical settings include food and beverage, aggressive-media pipelines, and chemical processing.
