TFE458 is an AS568-458 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 14.475 in (367.67 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 15.025 in (381.64 mm). In service, this o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

PTFE (Teflon) is valued for a very wide continuous service temperature range and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The material holds up against steam, oxidizing media, and solvents. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery call for a different compound.
