APG stocks the TFE468, an AS568-468 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D O-Ring measuring an inside diameter of 19.455 in (494.16 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 20.005 in (508.13 mm). An o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

The material holds up against oxidizing media, nearly all industrial chemicals, and strong acids and bases. PTFE (Teflon) is valued for a very wide continuous service temperature range and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery.

Typical settings include laboratory equipment, food and beverage, and aggressive-media pipelines.
