An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

As a material, Silicone offers physiological inertness and low toxicity, excellent electrical insulating properties. Expect good resistance to weathering, extreme heat and cold, and dry heat. The material carries a published service range of -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). It should not be specified for service in steam above its rated range or hydrocarbon fuels and oils.
