An o-ring remains the most cost-effective sealing element available for pressurized assemblies.

Silicone is specified here for excellent electrical insulating properties and very good compression set resistance across its range. Expect good resistance to extreme heat and cold, ozone and UV exposure, and weathering. The material carries a published service range of -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C).

The compound is metal detectable for HACCP and foreign-body control programs. It sees regular use in ovens and heated equipment, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and electronics and electrical enclosures.
