The S70042 is an AS568-042 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 3.239 in (82.27 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.379 in (85.83 mm). This o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

The material holds up against dry heat, ozone and UV exposure, and weathering. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Silicone is valued for physiological inertness and low toxicity, an exceptionally wide service temperature range. Continuous operating temperature is published at -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C).
