This o-ring is supplied in AS568-386 red Silicone 70 Shore A with an inside diameter of 16.955 in (430.66 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 17.375 in (441.33 mm), catalogued under part number S70386. It seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

Silicone is valued for physiological inertness and low toxicity, very good compression set resistance across its range. It resists weathering, extreme heat and cold, and dry heat. Published continuous service range is -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). Exposure to abrasive dynamic service or hydrocarbon fuels and oils will shorten service life.
