S70470 is an AS568-470 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 20.955 in (532.26 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 21.505 in (546.23 mm). In service, this o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

As a material, Silicone is widely chosen for very good compression set resistance across its range and flexibility that holds at very low temperatures. This material stands up to extreme heat and cold, dry heat, and ozone and UV exposure. Published continuous service range is -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). Applications involving hydrocarbon fuels and oils or concentrated acids call for a different compound.

Typical settings include medical devices, electronics and electrical enclosures, and ovens and heated equipment.
