As a material, Silicone is widely chosen for an exceptionally wide service temperature range and flexibility that holds at very low temperatures. It resists extreme heat and cold, dry heat, and many oxidizing chemicals. Published continuous service range is -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). It is not the right choice where abrasive dynamic service or hydrocarbon fuels and oils are present.
