The S70171 is an AS568-171 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring measuring an inside diameter of 7.987 in (202.87 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 8.193 in (208.1 mm). This o-ring creates a positive seal at flange, piston and rod interfaces without added hardware.

Silicone is specified here for very good compression set resistance across its range, physiological inertness and low toxicity. The material holds up against dry heat, many oxidizing chemicals, and extreme heat and cold. Continuous operating temperature is published at -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C).
