S70172 is an AS568-172 red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 8.237 in (209.22 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 8.443 in (214.45 mm). In service, this o-ring delivers dependable bidirectional sealing in a compact groove envelope.

As a material, Silicone is widely chosen for excellent electrical insulating properties and very good compression set resistance across its range. The compound resists dry heat, many oxidizing chemicals, and ozone and UV exposure. Service temperature is rated from -80°F (-62.2°C) through 450°F (232.2°C). Applications involving abrasive dynamic service or hydrocarbon fuels and oils call for a different compound.
