APG stocks the S1.6X2.2, a red Silicone 70 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 2.2 mm (0.087 in), a cross section of 1.6 mm (0.063 in), and an outside diameter of 5.4 mm (0.21 in). An o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

Silicone is specified here for exceptionally wide service temperature range and excellent electrical insulating properties. The compound resists many oxidizing chemicals, weathering, and extreme heat and cold. Service temperature is rated from -80°F (-62.2°C) through 450°F (232.2°C). Applications involving hydrocarbon fuels and oils or abrasive dynamic service call for a different compound.
