This o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

As a material, Silicone delivers flexibility that holds at very low temperatures and an exceptionally wide service temperature range. The material holds up against weathering, extreme heat and cold, and dry heat. The material carries a published service range of -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). Applications involving concentrated acids or hydrocarbon fuels and oils call for a different compound.
