It resists dry heat, extreme heat and cold, and many oxidizing chemicals. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Silicone offers excellent electrical insulating properties and an exceptionally wide service temperature range. Published continuous service range is -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C).
